2022 Model Dealer Markups

Hello there. I don't own a T7 but am considering it for mostly off-road riding. A local dealer has the 2022 model for sale for $10,999, which is $700 (700-ha!) above the MSRP. Then, they have an extra $1320 for:
Freight: $430
Logistics Surcharge: $200
Setup $310
Prep $380

I know that there might be global issues that could be causing prices to be increased but I don't see other dealers going beyond the $10,299 MSRP. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

It would help to know where you are located. People from your area can tell their experience with various dealers.

Freight and set up are going to be pretty much universal on any new vehicle purchase. Stepping up MSRP and other creative charges have to do with the integrity of the dealer.

Last year I bought my '21. The local dealer did not increase the base price of $9999. Freight and prep was $890. Tax was $435.56. License and title was $200.50. OTD price was $11,525.
So to compare to what you were quoted, my price without tax or title would have been $10888.94 with an MSRP $300 less than the '22.

I bought two new Yamahas last year from two different dealers. Both bikes were hard to find, so I took what I could get. Here's the extra charge listing from their invoices:

Dealer 1: 2021 Tenere_700 @ MSRP. Freight: $435; Dealer Prep: $449; Doc Fees: $169; License Fees: $14. Total: $1,067
Dealer 2: 2020 WR250R @ MSRP. Freight and Dealer-Prep: $99. Total: $99

Guess who my preferred dealer is now?

I think the dealer will take as much as they can get on the T7 as they are in short supply and high demand. Other bikes they just want off of the floor ASAP. If you want new, you pay way to much today as compared to way it should be. And it's going to get worse. Soon there will be all kinds of trouble just to own the automobile. Walking may be back in style if the world doesn't shape up.

Thanks, all! Helpful to understand the dynamics going on. The dealer is here in Milwaukee, WI. Any locals on here will know who it is. They did reply to a question about the "base" price and they stated that it's because of demand and a "weak margin". That's one thing but all the additional fees they add on seems like double dipping. $12,319 *before* tax & title!

Have a Great Day!
