Tank Cover

So, I have removed the 4 plastic tabs and the 2 bolts that secure the tank cover to the tank and there appears to be something else securing it. Can anyone cast any light on what I am missing?

Hi @electric_monk . I haven't removed mine yet but I do have a service manual that I would love to send you that shows you the exploded view of the parts of all areas of the bike with instructions on how to perform various maintenance. It's very good to have. PM an email address and I'll send that to you.

I had completely forgotten that I had the electronic one on the PC, I have got so used to picking up the printed version. It's handy having a riding buddy who owns a printing company.
There is nothing in it about removing the tank cover, it seems to indicate that there may be some velcro (Hook and Loop for our American cousins) fastenings underneath.

I looked at the break down for removing the fuel tank side covers and it appears they are using 2 projections inserted into 2 holes and it needs to be forced off straight towards you. Grab the top sides and pull as that's where the fasteners are located. Hope this helps.

you need to grab it from the sides and pull it apart and it will release from how it snaps onto the tank. Simple once you get it. Pull it apart between the gas tank hole and the end closest to the seat. Just a small flex and pull up.
